The educational stepping stones of Dr. Muega were smooth and consistent, having graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication major in Journalism , a Master of Arts in Philosophy, Doctorate degrees in Curriculum Studies, in Special Education, and in History and Philosophy: all from the same premier university in the country, the University of the Philippines in Diliman.
Dr. Muega started publishing books and scholarly works in 1999 with the release of Licensure Examination for Teachers Reviewer and the latest in 2017 with the Inclusive education in the Philippines: Gauging schools’ and teachers’ readiness to take on the challenge at the International Review of Social Sciences. These gained him accolades such as: the 2011 and 2015 University of the Philippines Diliman Centennial Faculty Grant for the achievements in education as evidenced by his researches and publications, the 2016-2018 One U.P. (University of the Philippines) Professorial Chair Award.
As an academician, he is performing multi-tasks: as a reviewer and external research judge in various symposia and journals, as a curriculum and instruction teacher at the University of the Philippines’ College of Education, as a thesis and dissertation adviser, as a research dissemination mentor to undergraduate and graduate students, as a speaker and lecturer in various conferences, and as a presentor in local and international conferences and conventions.
He had completed a number of funded projects and researches and, at present, he is a co-researcher of the funded projects and researches entitled: Philippine Higher Education: Influences, Directions and Possibilities Amidst Globalization and The Person Behind the Teacher: Connecting Filipino Teachers’ Lives, Local Worlds (Social Context), and School Environments and Their Philosophy and Psychology of Teaching, as well as, A Content Analysis of Local Textbooks in Values Education which is on personal fund.
Included in his hectic schedule are memberships in the Honor Society and Research Organizations such as: PI GAMMA MU Honor Society (2018), Honor Society of the PHI KAPPA PHI (2017), International Research Association for Talent Development and Excellence, and the Research and Development Foundation of the University of the Philippines College of Education, Inc. Also, he does not forget community service as a Radio Host in Radio Edukado aimed at literacy, a Coordinator for the Citizens’ Welfare Training Service, and a Volunteer Tutor at ABS-CBN Bantay Bata Education Center.
